Mounted Combat VS. Foot Combat – Which Would You Choose?

This July, CO will be turning to a brand new chapter in PvP - Mounted Combat! Attacking players or monsters while riding on your mount is something we've dreamed of, ever since they first arrived. What do you think about it? What's the biggest difference between fighting on foot and fighting on steeds? Today, we'll shed a bit more light on this topic.

As the soul of the game, player vs. player combat has certainly evolved over the past few years, in Conquer Online. From various solo PK contests, the massive Guild War, and the latest CTF contest, the game offers players a chance to become a "player killer" rather than a "monster slayer", and that's when the fun started.

Then we have the mounts, which will serve you as an awesome mode of transportation. They allow the players to traverse the landscape more quickly, and in very a stylish way. The mounts changed the game, in some ways, but not that much. It seems that there's still unaddressed potential with these mounts. Sure, they look menacing, and it's better to ride than to walk, but is that all? Of course not!

Our players began to think about what it feels like to fight on mounts. Involving these loyal followers in the battles would be another great step for Conquer to take. When a character rides on their mount, they will do all the actions together - jump, sprint, and cast any kind of skill. Compared with the traditional combat mode, it provides extra speed and various sorts of combat-related buffs, which means you will be more fearsome! And the focus will also be changed, slightly. This could be a great advance when confronting a normal melee class with ranged spells, like the Trojan. That is to say, you have better chance to avoid the damage of the skills like Hercules when riding on a mount. On the other hand, for those on foot, it would be more difficult to hit the mounted combatant. No matter if it's mounted vs. mounted or mounted vs. unmounted, the speed of your movement is the key.

Generally speaking, when a new combat mode is implemented, there certainly will be more possibilities for different battles. New techniques will be required during these future fights. So the real question is, who will be able to stand until the fight is through? Or should we say, ride?

More details will be coming up soon! Stay tuned!
