Today, we will make an interview with watermaker, one of the best players on snowwhite server, whose BP is 299! Let us "snoop into" his character and real life to know how a high level player sees this game and how he plays!
Karena: |
Hello, chad. How are you today?
Chad: |
I am well and yourself? | ||
Karena: |
I am great, let us begin our interview now. Could you tell me a little bit about yourself first?
Chad: |
Ok, I will get serious now. (puts on a stone face)
Karena: |
What made you start playing Conquer in the first place?
Chad: |
My boy wanted to start playing games on the internet and I felt he was too young to play without being monitored. I searched the internet for a game for us to play together. We tried several different games, and finally found CO. We both liked it and have played it ever since. He is old enough to play without me now, but I am hooked as well.
Karena: |
By the way, how old is your son and daughter?
Chad: |
My boy is 14 and my daughter is 9.
| |||
Karena: |
Haha, cool. So how long have you been playing?
Chad: |
Maybe since 2003 or 2004, thistlefoot was my first character on dragon server. Sorry, I cannot remember the exact time. Time and me do not get along, haha.
Karena: |
Never mind. Taken any breaks yet? Or have you been playing all the time?
Chad: |
The only breaks I have taken were due to being in a remote location with no internet access. Recently I missed about 5 weeks of CO. I was away when the mounts were initiated into the game. I suppose you can say I am addicted to CO.
Karena: | Haha. What is your vocation?
Chad: | I am the Technical Service Manager for a company that builds drilling rigs.
Karena: |
Wow, cool. You are awesome.
Chad: |
Basically, I have a crew of technicians that I send around the world to repair our equipment. Occasionally, I have to go myself.
Karena: |
So that is the reason you need to travel a lot.
Chad: |
Yes. It is not pleasure trips or vacations. But I do enjoy some of the trips. I do get to go to some nice places occasionally. Only 3 days ago I was standing in front of the Great Pyramids in Egypt.
Karena: |
Wow, amazing, isn't it? |
Chad: |
I have saw hundreds of pictures of them, but none of them really prepare you for how monumental they are. I was half expecting to see some big alien machine sticking out of the top of it after watching Transformers, but apparently everything you see on TV is not true!! |
Karena: |
Haha, you are humorous. Ever got to the point where you got addicted to Conquer? |
Chad: | About 3 days after I started playing I think. |
Karena: | I see! So do you have any real life friends who play Conquer too? |
Chad: | Yes. My best friend plays as well. He started playing with my son and me. Shortly after we started playing, my brother joined in. There are also 2 other players in out town that I know. My nephew plays on and off as well. |
Karena: | What is their character names? |
Chad: | My best friend play on FlameReign. My brother plays on Blood_Seeker. My boy plays on Chance Yong. |
Karena: | Hehe. So what has become your main interest in your real life except Conquer?? |
Chad: | We spend a lot of time on the river. We like swimming, boating, and the kids like tubing a lot. |
Karena: |
I like boating, haha. |
Chad: | Haha, its the best, there is nothing like the feel of the wind and spray on your face. |
Karena: | Yeah. I heard that you and your friend tim are good at chinese kungfu, right? |
Chad: | We studied together when we were younger. He practices on and off now but I cannot anymore. |
Karena: | How comes? |
Chad: |
I have a couple of injuries that keep me from it now. |
Karena: |
I am so sorry to hear that. |
Chad: |
Haha, its no big deal. I get my kungfu in on CO now, haha. |
Karena: | I will forward your idea. I also like chinese kungfu very much. |
Chad: | Haha, groovie. |
Karena: |
Yeah, so what is your favorite class? |
Chad: | Water tao, I currently have 2, and am working on a 3rd. |
Karena: | You only play water tao? |
Chad: |
I have more than ten characters. I do not play fire or trojan though. |
Karena: | Why you like water tao most? |
Chad: |
I don’t know. Maybe because it is a supporting character. I have always played those in games for some reason. As it turned out in the end, they are really good melee fighters as well. I didn't know that when I first started playing them. |
Karena: | I see. Usually, what do you do in game with your kids and friends? |
Chad: | We help each other level our characters and gear. We like to play around in guild area and jail, fast blading with other players. My boy is an avid PKer. FlameReign and I tend to be more passive about the PKing. We practice our skills on each other as well. We use the game as a common communication portal as well. Usually all of us have a character on in TG, and we leave each other messages. |
Karena: | What is your favorite skill? Why? |
Chad: | I would have to say pray, there is no better offense than a group of not dead allies. It makes the game more enjoyable for everyone when they do not have to run all the way back from a respawn point as well. Some days, I will just sit in guild area reviving people and chatting. |
Karena: |
Where's the best leveling ground for you? |
Chad: |
My level is 133 now; there is no leveling ground for me. I level by leveling up noobs and claiming mentor reward, I got enough mentor reward to hit level 134 now. |
Karena: |
Do you like the new mounts? |
Chad: | Yes I like them a lot. One of my favorite things in the game has always been hunting for items and building up my gear. The mounts are a very nice change. Ever since lottery the drops have been horrible. I now have something else to hunt. My boy has wanted mounts since we started playing. |
Karena: | I like my pink horse too, hehe. |
Karena: | If we release the CO 1.0 version, will you like it? Do you have any ideas or suggestions about it? |
Chad: | If CO does release CO 1.0 I will probably keep playing on the server I am on. I like the community, and do not want to have to start over. |
Karena: | I heard that you are making your own game, right? |
Chad: |
Yeah, but it is a long ways from finished, it is not ever going to be made public. When I do finish it just my friends and I will play it and keep developing it to what we want in a game. |
Karena: |
But make sure you won't quit conquer after your own game is done. |
Chad: |
No, that will never happen. My game won’t be nearly as fun as conquer; it will end up being a conversation piece, nothing more. |
Karena: | Where do you stand in the whole Bulkers V Non-Bulkers debate? |
Chad: | I really do not have a stand one way or the other about bulkers. Yes they are a pain in the butt to deal with as a player, but, without them the game probably would not exist as the great game it is today. They are who really support the game and keep it rolling. They are the ones that finance the expansions and modifications to make it even bigger and better. So even though they are the most powerful people on the servers, they are also the ones ultimately keeping the game up and running. |
Karena: | I agree, so do you have any suggestions about conquer? |
Chad: |
Uhm... hold a meteor shower for once while I am home, haha. You know, I am joking. My only suggestion to CO is fix some of the bugs in the game before you add any more to it. Other than a few bugs, mostly with the ninja, the game is great. About that monk, I will be waiting for that one. I love the skills like blocking weapons with your hands, like blocking arrows and shuriken. |
Karena: |
I see, thanks for your suggestion and support! |
Karena: | Do you have any words to say to CO and CO community? |
Chad: |
To TQ, I will say thanks for making one of the best MMORPG out there. Keep up the good work.To the CO community, keep playing and having fun. Without all of you there would be no MM in MMORPG. All of you make game play fun and exciting. |
Karena: | Thanks so much. So you are still in Egypt now? When can you finish the work and back to USA? |
Chad: | Yes. I will probably fly home on Sunday. |
Karena: | Wish you have a nice trip. Thank you for accepting the interview. See you, bye! |
Ok, that is all. Thank you for your reading, dear readers. Have a good day!
