[JTeam] Let Us Get Some Gold
Yes I know, you've seen too many guides suggesting ways you can get money in Conquer Online. Before I wrote this I really wondered why we needed another one. But the more I thought about it, the more I thought I had some unique insights as to how to keep money on hand. Many of the things I will suggest in the following paragraphs you will have heard before, but I promise to offer something new along the way that you might find helpful.
First of all, this guide is geared toward the average player, with no vendor account and possibly no secondary characters, basically someone like me. At times I find myself (especially starting out) needing silver to outfit my character during the quick leveling up period. Of course, the easiest way is to find an archer who will team with you, and then follow them to bird island. This is the best case scenario. But if you are a gamer like me, the last thing you want to do is run around in front of twin city shouting, "team please!!".
Now since I've already mentioned bird island, let's start there. You can go to bird island at any time and you will find tons of gold lying around. Pick it up till you get tired of it. Most of the people leveling there don't care about it, and just leave it. But you should prepare before going to bird island. Make sure you have a couple of healing potions, and several town scrolls. Place these in your hot keys. There are times when you will get trapped and want to get out of there fast. Also, be aware that you will die. It is a fact. You might hop too close to a birdman, or a player with PK turned on could accidentally hit you. Don't despair, just revive and get back to work. An hour of hopping around picking up gold here can yield 100,000 plus. Don't bother with passing through town and going to the hawking, all you need is right here in front of town. And don't bother with the hawkings (which are now cattle thieves during the mount event) by waterfall cave, it's too cramped in there, and it will lead to more deaths.
Next, if you aren't feeling too brave, and want to take a more leisurely approach to grabbing gold, go to mystic castle and stand by the guards near the portal inside. Every time a tombbat comes close, the guards kill it. They often drop big amounts of gold. Just pick it up. If a guard kills something, you can pick it up immediately and no need to wait since it wasn't killed by a player.
If you are just needing cash, don't bother with the quests at this time. None of them offer much of a reward in the way of silver, and most of the items you gain are bound to your character so you can't sell them. There is an exception to this rule, though. If your character is strong enough, register for the Monster Hunter Quest with the Captain outside of most cities. During the course of collecting gold if you kill enough monsters (100 at lower levels, and 300 at higher), you will get half of an exp ball and a meteor. You can immediately sell that for 70,000 to100,000.
Now here is the most important part of this article. Always be aware, and don't be too proud. Be aware because you never know what will drop and at times unexpected things will happen. A player may be killed by a monster, PKed in town, or killed by a guard. Take their stuff, it's ok. They'd do it to you, and if you don't someone else will! Also, people grabbing gold like you will get killed while hopping around. Take their stuff too. Don't be proud and pick up everything! I don't care what it is, stuff adds up. Some Sycees are 95-100 pieces of silver, if there are 10 on the ground and you leave them, you just lost 1,000 silver. Keep your inventory low, just the potions and scrolls (and maybe the monster hunter quest jar) and fill it up with items. Most will be normal gears that will bring a couple of hundred pieces of silver from the NPC, but some will be refined or unique. These can also be sold pretty quickly. People are buying these up like crazy now to build their sockets on the star tower and fan. If it is an item that you think can be sold, put it in your warehouse and save it for later. If it is a normal item with sockets in it, sell it. It brings a little more from the NPC than normal items without sockets, but it will sit in your inventory forever before someone buys it in the market.
Now after you've spent a day gathering gold and items, and you're ready to log off for the night, don't do it! You could be making money while you sleep. Go to the market and click on an open vendor slot and sell your wares. Before pricing your items, hop around and take a look at what other people are selling. Take note of the prices that people are getting for similar items in the market. Price yours just a little less. Even if I'm loaded with cash, I always buy the cheapest item I can find. If you have accumulated some meteors along the way and don't have any need for them, sell them too. Find someone else selling meteors, and set up shop near them. If they are selling theirs for 90,000 each, sell yours for 85,000. It works every time. The meteors will be the first thing to go and people always need them. Also, when building your shop inventory, put the pricier and rarer items at the top of your list. If you have gems, place them near the top with the meteors. And if you've been lucky enough to find an elite or better item, place it up there too. The customer is more likely to view the rest of your inventory. If I view someone's shop, and it starts out with a first page full of refined items, I close it and go. There are just too many other vendors to waste time sorting through a bunch of refined stuff. Now once you have your shop set up, just hit the minus (-) button at the top of the screen and go get some rest. In fact dream of the riches you will have in the morning.
Now this guide is not guaranteed to get you rich, but these are the practices I use and I never find myself wanting for anything (except maybe that elite +6 wand with 2 super dragon gems that costs 4,500 CPs!). Picking up gold does take it's toll on you, it just gets boring after awhile, so this is something you probably won't do very often. But there will come times when you really have got to have some cash, and if you follow these rules with a little patience, you will be rewarded. So good luck!
