[Tips] Join a Team

I remember when I first started the game I was afraid to join a team. I was afraid that someone would PK me, so I stayed away from other players.

Now I'm a high level archer (lvl 133) and I can hardly find a place to hunt without someone bothering me to form a team. Often I will, but sometimes I want to hunt alone.

Joining a team is the best way to level up your character. Particularly on BI. A good archer will gain you several levels in very short order. But, there are some things to keep in mind when joining a team.

1. Don't beg. It is very irritating to have my screen blocked by someone asking to join my team. On more than one occasion I have had one of my personal characters killed because I couldn't defend them with the request blocking my shots. Most team leaders will turn automatic requests so if there is an opening on their team you will see the message when you get close.

2. I am not going to bump someone off my team just to let you join. I don't care if you can stig or tank. If you are on my team, you are a part of my team. You wouldn't want me to bump you for someone else, would you? Don't even bother to ask.

3. Quit trying to talk to me. I'm not there to be your friend, I'm there to kill as many monsters as possible to help you plvl. I don't have time to stop and chat.

4. Don't complain about what I am doing. I have a team because I am plvling my own characters. You are just along for the ride. If you don't like what I'm doing, leave. It's my team and I'll do what I want.

5. Don't kill me because I'm stealing your kills. I actually had one team member do that. How stupid is that? You get credit for every kill when I am on the same screen with you. If you want more experience from doing your own kills, leave the team.

6. Stay close, but not too close. You don't have to stay right next to me to benefit from being on the team. Look at the pictures on the right side of your window. If the team leader has a bright picture you are getting credit for his kills. If the picture goes dim, you are too far away and will not get credit. You need to pretty much stay on the same screen with him. Some times you will need to be closer than that, but as long as the picture is bright, you are getting kill and experience credit.

7. Don't try to start a team as a noob. I get credits, known as virtue points (VP) whenever I help a younger character level up. If I am on your team I don't get credit, if you are on my team I will. So, I'm not going to join your team. If you want my help, you join mine.

There it is. Probably the two most important points are don't beg and don't talk.

Oh, one last thing. When I make a kill, such as on BI, pick up the money I leave behind. You need it. I do to, but I will generally leave it for my team members. When I hunt alone I pick it all up. I've made over 500K in an hours hunting just picking up the gold. Plus, I get mets and refined gear that I use as well. So, don't be stupid, just pick it up. It's free money...
