Let's get started! Step 1: First thing first, download the wallpaper from the CO website for this activity. Click here. Step 2: Now, launch the Adobe Photoshop program so we can start with our tutorial. For this activity I will use Adobe Photoshop CS2 (because it's the only version I ever bought). Don't worry if your Adobe Photoshop version is higher or lower because the procedures that we'll be performing are all the same and available to all version of Photoshop. However, this tutorial will work with version 7.0 up. Step 3: Ok. Here we go! Open the picture/wallpaper, the one that we have downloaded from the internet. (click the images to enlarge) Step 4: Crop the character to make focus on it. On your toolbox, select the crop tool or press "C" to activate the said tool. Step 5: Now, crop the image by selecting the character only. Make a diagonal selection by clicking the left button of your mouse and drag until the whole body of the character were selected (image 4). Once the selection is complete, hit the enter key to execute the final cropping command (image5). Ops! We're not yet done we will remove the current background and replace with a plain color. Step 6: Removing the background. There are so many ways to remove the background. You can use eraser tool, lasso tool, and pen tool. But eraser and lasso are very tedious, that's why I recommend that you use pen tool instead. it's the easiest way to select the character alone and take it off from its current background. Once you have selected the pen tool, check on the items below the menu bar make sure that you have selected the paths option (image6). |
