There are three types of material which can be used for tempering: StarStone, +Stone and Minor Item.
StarStone can be divided into 3 kinds with different quality.

They can be obtained in the following 4 ways FOR FREE.
1. By fulfilling quest in the new map FieryDragon Region, you can obtain 3 TwilightStarStones, 2 BrightStarStones and 1 RadiantStarStone.
2. By participating the Bright Fortune quest, you will have chance to obtain 3 TwilightStarStones and 1 BrightStarStone.
3. By crushing the DarkCrystal of DesertedVillage in the center of The New Realm, you will obtain tons of StarStones.
4. By signing in everyday, you will obtain tons of StarStones.
The good news is that basically you are able to temper your equipment for free, as you can obtain huge amount of StarStones by participating above quests.
Meanwhile, +Stone and Minor Item can be used to increase Perfection Progress as well. By consuming +Stone, Perfection Progress will be increased directly. The same type of Minor Item can be consumed to increase Perfection Progress, just like in Compose.
All in all, without spending extra pennies, you will be able to enjoy the Perfection System and get stronger and stronger for free!
