Crossed Blades II

The night was chill. I could hear the whistles through the trees, the crickets as they chirped and the soft footsteps I and my men made as we slithered through the wind plain unnoticed and undetected. We moved fast, the dark night gave us a very useful advantage for sneaking around. Our mission was to ambush a squad of heavily armed supply troops. They were bring their to the southern parts of Love Canyon where the Battle of the Southern Lands was taking place.

"Faster Men!" I whispered to my men "We were about to enter Love Canyon.

"Fletch, How do you suggest we lower ourselves to the trenches of Love Canyon?" said Kohakku, my friend who I chose personally to help me with the mission. Kohakku was a Ninja who was a real expert in assassination. He was a friend of mine as a child and we enlisted together.

"We found a hidden path that will bring us down, don't worry" i said

"As we entered Love Canyon i felt a emptiness, i always hated love canyon its where i used to have to go for training.

We went through the path down into the trenches of Love Canyon.

"Rig some Dynamite into the trench walls" I said to one of my soldiers "Light it on my command". We hid ourselves behind the rocks and trees that lay within the trenches and waited for their arrival. Finally i heard the sounds of marching and Wagons on the Trench as waited. I peeked over the Rock to get a look at what we were dealing with.

"There's a lot more then i expected" I whispered to Kohakku, "Most look like Trojans and they're hauling....my god. Bombs." I was shocked "We must stop them they will kill thousands"

"On your word' Kohakku said with a grin across his face

"ignite the Fuses!" I Screamed as the dynamite was lit a mass force of boulders came thrashing down upon a group of soldiers. The Supply troops were shocked as they began take arms. "Attack!" I yelled. Kohakku was the first to take a life tonight as he jerked and slashed his way through the body's of the supply troops.

"Arrr" a Trojan yelled as he raised his sword above me and struck down. I quickly blocked his swing with my backsword and put my hand over his face and casted Fire of Hell. His body flew back he was dead before he hit the ground. Many of my Ninja's were fighting amazing dodging swings and attacking with powerful thrusts. I found this inspiring, a group of young men fighting for a a great cause and doing it so well. This brought a smile to my face as i continued to fight. I was ripping them apart with my fire. When fire is cast is burns the flesh abundantly. Causing searing pain in which will kill you instantly. I saw a severely injured man running with a flame thinking lightly of it until i saw him glaring at the wagon full of bombs

"Stop Him!" I screamed. He was going to blow up the wagon of bombs. I tried to cast thunder on him but I missed. "Kill Him!" I yelled as my men started chasing him. He was to close now. They started throwing shurikens he did not fall until he reached the wagon.

"Boom!", a loud echo roared along the trenches of the canyon and hundreds of bombs were sent off.

"Run" I screamed as my soldiers struggled to get away. "Get out of the trench!" Finally the explosions went off. Many of my soldiers were right next to the wagon when the explosion went off. As I looked around me seven of my men were among me, excluding Kohakku.

"Kohakku!!" I screamed as i ran back into the debris. "Kohakku!!" I screamed again

"What the hell do you want?" I heard behind me and i saw him rise from beneath the rocks.

"Kohakku you son of a bitch, don't do that" I began to cry in happiness "Next time you do it I'll kill you!"

"Don't worry about me", He said as i saw tears in his eyes "I don't die". This mission was a success but a great loss, nine of twenty three men of mine came back to camp with me. The Supply Caravan was ruined and the guards were eliminated. As i returned the camp was silent that night as we mourned the dead and welcomed a great victory. For the Next few days i spent my time with Lynn. We sat along the water in the wind plains talking for hours sleeping and remembering. For the most part any free time i had was with her. I wanted to tell her how i feel but I was afraid it would ruin our friendship and i would be alone.

"Fletch" I heard my commanding officer say

"Sir!" i said

"I have a new assignment for you"..
